Law of Attraction

A literary agent once rejected a book of mine saying: “We dont do law of attraction anymore. That was trendy 10 years ago, when The Secret came out, but most people have already moved beyond that”. The statement struck me as hilarious, considering that the LOA is a universal principle that has been in effect since trillions of eons, not just 10 years and that these “most people” have not actually “moved beyond it” but instead given up on it. The problem with the LOA to explain how stuff works is that it can get really confusing when people try to apply objective thinking to it. Anyway, I hope this post by Steve Pavlina helps people (like Daryl's questions for example) to understand it. It kind of requires getting out of the objective mind so as to really get the LOA. I for one have a love/hate relationship with the law of attraction. I embrace it at times and then other times I reject it. I have found that it's easy to be obsessed with it, trying to over-analyze every little thing (and don't even mention the big things!) that happens and trying to figure out how you attracted it into your life.

so true... I don't believe that luck is exist!  

I believe in self fulfilling prophecy.  It seems to me, the Law of attraction could lead to harsh judgements, that are not realistic.  There are exceptions to most rules, and we cannot control all the things that happen to us. 

So who attracted injustice like the Holocaust, Slavery, Prejudice against gays or any other kind mass craziness who takes the responsibility of these things since LOA  is caused by the individual or group who stops the Buck? I heard the Hicks or "Abraham" say that Martin Luther king should have spoke to only those he resonated with we call that in the Black community "speaking to the choir"! If he did not speak and protest to power there would not have been no change and we would have never seen a Black President! So some LOA teachings just seem to be incomplete or in denial of reality~~

it all starts in the heart...why? believe that the good Lord, God, the Universe, the Holy One wants the best for you...then goodness will overflow then it will attract every good thing...then your mind will be filled with great things...then it will attract good things in your life...the question is will you start believing this is true? :) if you cant believe something good will happen you will just laugh at this...

I've been reading you for years. You,ve nailed it. Whae else is there to say?

Being mindful of one's thoughts is a great place to start. Since we can't always consciously monitor our thoughts (too many distractions), we have our feelings to tell us what we are subconsciously thinking. Good feelings = good thoughts. The opposite is true as well.

I have found out for my own life that LOA is completely true. The problem: I didn't realize it until about a year ago, until I heard of it. Now I am much more mindfulon what I think and what I really want and all this begins to really make a good impact on my life. I even attracted a new partner and... turns out she is fully aware of the LOA. I will cover this on my new blog, too.

You can also ask yourself  "How would the person I`d like to BE, do the things I am about to DO????

Sometimes, we don't know what we are, and that is why it is essential to become aware of the thoughts that drift by, often so quickly we don't even realize they came and went.

Excellent point you make and I would like to suggest to any of the readers who still have trouble with this concept to pick up a copy of Dr. Wayne Dyer's newest book Wishes Fulfilled, any one who is serious about turning  their circumstances around has to be committed to doing the work there is no getting around that.
