Have a Merry Selfish Christmas

Posted By: Randy GageDecember 5, 2012

One of the most controversial chapters in Risky Is the New Safe is the one titled, “Selfishness is the New Altruism.”  Once people read it, they understand that it is really about enlightened self-interest, and moving through a process from self-consciousness to what I call cosmic consciousness.

Your life becomes more about significance than success.  You find ways to contribute, but do it for purely selfish reasons:  For the joy it brings you.

Which leads me to what I want to share with you today…

It’s your chance to be totally and completely selfish this holiday season.  To do something for yourself, just for all the joy and pleasure it brings you.  If that sounds good to you, please go here and read this:

I do hope you’ll get involved.  And have a merry selfish Christmas!   (Or Chanukah, Kwanza, or anything else you’ll be celebrating this time of year.)

  1. I heard a message on a Christian radio station basically saying we should care less about ourselves.

I'm not sure that is really a healthy message... I think we do need to take care of ourselves... what we eat, drink, exercise, read, watch, listen to, etc... if not we end up sick, negative, etc... and we aren't really helping others being like that... love your neighbor as yourself... so if we care less about ourselves we care less about others...

    1. @BerniceTempleman1 Sounds like a pretty stupid message to put out.... one only has to look around in most countries to see that about 95% of people don't care about themselves at all.....over weight, broke, scruffy, unread etc etc - so maybe the radio station has been achieving it's objectives after all 🙂

    2. also thinking it isn't healthy giving if you go into debt to give to others... you aren't taking care of yourself & the family you live with... get out of debt, take care of yourself and the family you live with... then expand more... by helping causes that bring you joy.

being in debt, broke, or in poverty is not prosperous... going into debt to give to others doesn't create positive feelings... I don't think it is prosperous... you aren't sending positive energy to the person you are giving to... your giving negative energy

      1. maybe other ways to give if you don't have cash to give...

        1. maybe sometimes praying for yourself & others is the best gift you have to give:

May I live in safety. May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I live with ease.
May you live in safety. Be happy. Be healthy, live with ease.
May all beings live in safety, be happy, be healthy, live with ease.

    3. @BerniceTempleman1 I think Christianity is sort missing a point here. Jesus said "Love your neighbor as thyself" but they forgot about the as thyself part.

  2. I've just seen It's a wonderful life a couple of times already. That movie is so chock full of lack memes it isn't even funny. Holy Mackeral. What does it teach? That self sacrifice is a virtue. To give up on your dreams so you can go and serve the herd. That rich people are like Mr. Potter. Geez.
