I knew what to expect when I put up yesterday’s post (make sure you read that if you haven’t already, so today’s makes more sense): I figured some people would disagree, thinking that your inner compass is somehow divinely guided and thus unfailing. That would be great. Unfortunately it’s just not the case.
We live in the most fascinating time in human history, a time reeking with almost unlimited potential. It’s also a dangerous time. Here’s why:
We have traversed a startling and cataclysmic turning point in the cultural evolution of human behavior:
Today we evolve more culturally from the selection of adaptive ideas, than we do from biological hereditary traits.
Put in simple terms, people are more influenced by mind viruses than they are by evolution and how they were designed. And unfortunately, there are a lot more negative, disempowering mind viruses out there than positive, empowering ones. Not to mention, the negative memes are more virulent.
That means your survival instincts, the inner knowing that is meant to protect and guide you, could be off. And it doesn’t matter if you think it comes from God, evolution, or you just chalk it up to something as nebulous as intuition. If a premise is flawed, everything that follows only gets more off target.
I said in simple terms, people are more influenced by mind viruses than physical evolution. If we want to get deeper (and thus, simpler), this means something else. And you can choose whatever labeling best fits your belief structure:
A) As a result of the programming you’re infected with, you could be living in sin – meaning you are missing the mark your creator set for you. You are turning your back on your creator and the abundance that is your divine birthright.
B) As a result of the programming you’re infected with, you could be taking daily actions that are contrary to your DNA. You’re circumventing and sabotaging the safeguards meant to protect you and provide for your highest good.
This is where the “dangerous” part comes in: Because when you are facing a momentous decision in your life, and you meditate, pray, or go into that quiet place for guidance – the answers you receive aren’t valid.
You move forward certain that you’ve been guided by Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, developed human intelligence, or whatever, but the data has been poisoned.
Because the entity delivering it – your subconscious mind – is influenced by conflicting motives and feeding you bad advice. It like asking for directions out of the ‘hood from the guy who is planning to rob you. He’s going to tell you there’s a shortcut right down that alley over there…
That can cause you to take actions from financially limiting ones (causing you to miss a promotion or pass up a great business opportunity), to financially disastrous ones (going bankrupt, losing your home, or squandering your retirement). You could take actions that are harmful to your health (bad food choices which cause obesity, high blood pressure, etc.) to ones that are fatal (obesity that leads to heart failure, addictions that lead to overdose, etc.).
If you chose option A above, it’s not because your creator has forsaken you. In fact, it’s just the opposite. If you chose option B, it doesn’t mean that you are crazy. But you could act as though you are.
All this begets the really important question: Labels aside – how do you know if you’ve been infected with negative programming to the degree that your compass is off and you’re actually self sabotaging yourself?
That’s where we’ll pick up next!

P.S. I just arrived in Hollywood, where I’ll be in the live audience for the broadcast of one of my favorite shows – So You Think You Can Dance. I’ll be limbered up, in case one of the contestants turns and ankle and they need me! (Talk about delusional mind viruses…)
