Hi Randy,
Great post. Ego is the all time killer. In my life it has made me uncoachable. Defense is the greatest agenda in the universe. When I have an agenda I am stuck attached to my mental outcome. This blocks my good.
It is through fear of what is on the other side and am I really good enough to receive it.

It is a tough battle, no doubt. But to the victor, go the spoils!

I think everyone either has or will have this struggle with their ego and the overwhelming feeling to justify themselves.

It’s amazing how liberating it can be to give up the need to have to be right, though. It puts an individual in the best spot to be receptive to all of the abundance that exists in the universe.

I love the “in your face” style of your blog.

Pardon me for saying this, but I got the sense you had a lot of energy around being right too Randy. Making the statement, “I drive a nicer car than you do. I live in a nicer house than you do. I have more money than you do. I have nicer clothes than you do. Much nicer, now that I think of it. .. ” sounds pretty condescending to me.

Wattles says in ‘the Science of Getting Rich” that thinking in a certain way is the key. And part of that way is to shift from the competitive to the creative mind. The way you come across making the statement above is more competitive than creative. It’s like the ‘my way or the highway’, at least to me.

Any thoughts there?

Randy, I certainly used to allow “emotions” or “past baggage” or “old road maps” as handed down to me control my money. Thanks to you and my journey to becoming NWM Pro no longer an issue..or better realized..focusing on not allowing ..

It always amazes me how much energy people will use to rationalize being poor, when that same energy could be used instead to set them free. I wrote in my blog today about how your self-image determines your financial ceiling. His image is a struggling entrepreneur, so that’s where he will remain until he changes his mindset.

Money sure seems very emotional for a lot of people, whether they have it or not. :-)

Rather than focus on getting more money, focus on creating a better “YOU.” As you develop a mind-pattern of high self-worth, release sabotage and develop discernment, you automatically change the recipe of your auric field and mind-pattern.

As with all things, money is a result of your inner work. When YOU are in order, the money comes to you in the correct way for the correct reasons in the correct timing.

The more you work on YOU, the greater your chances of easily improving finances, automatically attracting money to you, and KEEPING and MULTIPLYING the funds that come your way.

Slow down, balance out yourself and your life. Pave the way for money to flow to you like water. Abundance of all things exists within God-Mind.

It is up to you to decide in what area of your life you want abundance and then create the recipe to attract it. You have a lot of choices. Make the correct choice for the correct reason in the correct way, and watch your life automatically change for the better.

I have been learning to be a better listener.

I really do not trust people who claim to be experts, who are either poor but “spiritual” or someone wealthy who has no life outside of consumption and acquisition.

Randy, you were warranted in what you said. Sometimes people sadly must know their place.

I admire people who are whole, and work daily to learn and experience life as much as I can.

Randy, my wife and I are dealing with this right now: she is upset with me because I just changed NM companies to one that I ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY WITH and she is upset because I am doing the NM side of it (she is in AVON and refuses to recruit) … now I brought that up because I realize now that she must abhor wealth because if you would join a NM company and ONLY do the direct sales/hard work/job-similar side of this business, then lack programming about money MUST exist … Trying to run a household with negative thoughts about money is very difficult … I am like you, I am following the footsteps of people who live like I want my family to live … no matter what she says – she will benefit anyway :)

Through my 20 + years of being in business, I have witnessed ego many many times. Unfortunately several times have been in my own life. That is why I am finally working simply on me. I have set a side 90 days to focus with laser-like accurancy on my life; the relationships, physical health, spiritual health, and vocational health. I have listened to many people who claim that they know how to succeed only to find out that they are clueless. During this 90 day period, I am going back to the classics; the Bible, Think and Grow Rich, As a Man Thinketh, etc to truly study people that have achieved success. I am tired of waffling through life. I don’t need an ego, I need to succeed!!!! Oh yea Randy, I am reading your works as well.

To hell with regret, there’s only learning. Everything you’ve ever done has gotten you to where you are now. I don’t know you personally, but I get the feeling you are a pretty happy and content man. Well done.

So you’ve pissed off some people in your life. So has everybody else. And a lot of them are still broke and/or unhappy. I’m impressed with the number of people you’ve helped. In my opinion, that’s an awesome accomplishment. Thanks, man. Respect.

Less now than in the past, though. I started looking at money as another form of energy. That helped me to become objective about it. Energy comes in, energy goes out. Money should do the same. If money doesn’t come in, you’re likely broke and miserable. If money doesn’t go out, you’re probably an unhappy miser. Still miserable.

Oprah Winfrey is a shining example of a successful businesswoman. She’s amazing generous and has a boatload of cash. Awesome. I don’t watch her show but I admire her ability to manifest prosperity. Again, Respect.

Keep up the good work, Randy. Thanks for helping us think about prosperity in a good way. Even when you piss some of us off in the process.

I think that man who argued with you was my brother. LOL. We all know from “success/money 101″ that if you want what someone else has, do what they did to get it. Your advise was right on. You were not out of line in saying what you did. The time for BS is over if we want to cut thru the crap and become the best we can be. In MLM we know that everything works, to some degree. The reason we take the time and effort to seek out the best in whatever field we are endeavoring to enter is to, hopefully, become a cookie cutter of that same persons’ technique and results. As you’ve said, many times, who you follow/emulate will be what you become. We all need to choose wisely.
For myself, I’m all ears. Lead on.

Who gives a shit about ego … ego gets a bad wrap anyway. Randy what you did was provide a healthy dose of “in your face” reality. SHOCK VALUE is sometimes the best strategy in getting through the armour of defensiveness.

A healthy “dope slap” has always caught my attention. It makes me shut up, stand up, and pay attention. And if you can get me to do that…well then Randy, you have served me well and earned my respect.

I think what was really at play here were two things:

(1) That guy had a serious self-confidence problem. He probably was never “recognized” for anything in his life. By attacking you, he made himself feel better about his own sorry lot in life. In his mind, by attacking you, he felt superior in his own little brain.

(2) I suspect jealousy was also at play: You’re successful and he, apparently, was not. When people are jealous, they go into the “fight” mode as a protective mechanism. On some deep level, I’m sure he was envious of your success. But rather than admit that and say, “Hey, I envy you. How can I be like you?” he resorted to the less productive (yet internally conditioned response that we all have) to attack you — someone whom he perceived as a threat. (Back to the fight or flight thing again.)

Cooperation is not something that’s conditioned at a primal level; competition for resources and protection of self are pre-programmed in our subconscious. That’s why for most of us it’s a daily struggle to override that continuous loop software programming with positive, productive thoughts and actions.

Ha! I can understand why you said what you said, how much is enough? The guy is reacting out of fear and obviously lacks self awareness as he felt the need to bombard you with his stuff. In my opinion every interaction with another human is operating on other levels as well. He needed you and you were there.

Personally I agree with what you said to the guy. If you are making all this money and have all those nice things and he does not, and wants to argue with you about how you do it then by all means give him examples of proof that your way works.

Sometimes people need to be verbally bitch slapped.

I don’t think I would have the nerve to walk up to you and say things to you like that, and tell you your wrong, but if I did, and you pointed out all those things to me I think I would have left there with my head spinning and with a whole lot to rethink.

Maybe I am just a bit different. But I respect what you said to the guy. I would have left there that day with more respect for you than when I got there (whether it was me or someone else you said something like that to).

You stood up for your beliefs. Do you really think it was your ego? Maybe just the bit where you over commented on the clothes. But you stood up for yourself when someone was trying to tear you down. Honestly, who wouldn’t.

I would like it if you told me all the things you said to him, put it in my face, throw it out there. It would put a serious fire up under my ass to get something done.

Some people need competition to get anything done. I know I love competition, without it there is no “ha ha I win” in the end.. I know it’s all ego, but I think that part of the ego can really propell people.

Perhaps he was just challenging you for his own purposes.

You’re argument about creativity vs competition is crap. Sorry to be blunt but it’s true. I get tired of hearing about how horrible competition is and how wonderful any alternative is. Fact is competition is GOOD, and the reality is competition is what drives creativity to begin with. If it weren’t for competition we wouldn’t have Ferrari’s, Porsche’s, or Lamborghinis and would still be hoofing it bipedal. You can also remove the pyrimids of Egypt, the sculptures of Michaelanglo, and the Apollo landings on the moon. All of those accomplishments came from the desire to have the biggest, best, and be the first and it pushed mankind to the cutting edge of creativeness. Technologies from those tasks are still benefitting us today. Its what drives this world no matter if you live in a capitalist society or not. Its just the way life and what reality is. You can embrace it and use it to your advantage or you can deny it and pretend to live in some kind of never never land Utopia. The choice is yours.

Eye for an eye. arrogance be very effective talent used at the right time it destroys small mindedness instantly. Ah the guru who also takes no shit. Prosperity now and forever!

Yes, the subject of money can trigger emotional responses in me.

After working in a fast food restaurant in my youth and handling hundreds of dollars each shift, that charge has been significantly lessened. It’s paper with green ink on it, and it does have value for what it can be exchanged for. The emotional charge on money has significantly reduced the longer I associate with people who are financially wealthy… I pick up on their calmness and confidence regarding money.

I felt your fierce love toward that man. He is not required to be grateful for your volunteered time. It’s not your business even if he spread wild rumors or talked badly of you to other attendees. However, I felt it is appropriate to use your approach when he whined directly at you. In that face to face instance you became his teacher/guru. In the least you were impressing upon him to Stop Whining and be responsible for one’s own results. That is definitely an act of love.

Randy, I feel you were using your own ego in service to help someone break through their stale thinking. Sometimes shock value, done from a place of love, is the only way to jar one out of one’s protective ego…. sometimes when confronted with such a situation, it was easier for me to let go of my ego by saying “you know, you’re right” because the evidence was overwhelmingly stronger for my teacher’s point of view. The disparity was so great that it was like being accelerated forward by a mile to join the winner’s circle instead of “losing” the race by a proverbial nose of accomplishment.

The key here was that you already accomplished what he wanted and you gave him time to get his own method going. If you had criticized him when he was simply getting started (or working toward accomplishment in a different field) then I would have deemed your response inappropriate.
