Being a Gentleman in Business
Wow what a response to yesterday’s post on being a cell phone jerk. As predicted, some people are quite emotional about their phones. Tony, Friday and RJ suggested I was just getting old and cranky. That may be true, but that wasn’t the point. We’re looking at things that may hold you back from success.

Are You a Cell Phone Jerk?
If you want to be successful, you need to be perceived by others as someone who is deserving of opportunity, and able to handle responsibility. It doesn’t hurt if they think you are polite, and possess some common sense as well. And you may be doing something to sabotage all that, simply because of your cell phone.

My Thanksgiving Wish for You
Thoughts held in mind produce in kind. That’s worth holding in mind today, because it’s the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S. This is a day we’ve set aside every year since the Pilgrims came over, to celebrate and give thanks for the blessings in our life.

Getting Motivated
A lot of people call me a motivational speaker. I don’t correct them, because most don’t really understand the nuance and meaning of words like I do as a writer. But no one, a speaker or anyone else, can motivate you.

The Real Question to Ask
One of my former coaching clients was traveling with some people in a car, when the subject of tithing came up. One of the people involved had bought a property one year ago for $80,000. Now they are in a position to sell it for $170,000. After taking out the loan repayment and the tax component, she will be left with about $60,000 and she stated that she would “have a great problem with giving the church 10 percent.”
